YOUTH CHOIR

The Youth Choir (grades 7 – 12) at Westminster provides students in grades 7 – 12 the opportunity to share their faith through music in new and exciting ways.  Singing a variety of genres, with a wide range of accompaniments, the Youth Choir continues to build on the foundation of Sunshine and Chapel Choir.  The choir challenges and stretches the youth both spiritually and musically.  The Youth Choir also plans social events to celebrate their ministry together. 

To encourage the students to discover their role in worship, the choir becomes more involved in worship planning and leading.  They choose and rehearse hymns and praise songs for special worship events and explore different liturgies for worship.  In addition, the choristers continue development of their singing voices through more advanced vocal training.  The choir expands their music skills by reading four part choral music, engaging in ear-training and rhythm dictation and when possible providing instrumental accompaniment. 

The choir meets on Sunday afternoons from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. and participates regularly in worship throughout the choir season.  Recently, the choir has begun an outreach program to engage seniors in care and retirement facilities.
