CHAPEL CHOIR
Tuesdays, (grades 3-6)
4:30-7:30

September - March

The Chapel Choir (grades 3 – 6) is an integral part of Westminster’s outstanding Chapel Club program which meets on Tuesdays from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. during the program year.  The Chapel Choir ministry provides children with the opportunity to deepen their faith through music, and prepares them for participation and leadership in worship through music education.

In this choir, the children begin to more fully experience the worship life of the church.  The choir explores the liturgical calendar and the special seasons that focus on a particular events in the life of Christ.  The Chapel Choir learns and memorizes the service music and responses that are sung each week in worship so they are able to fully participate.  The choir continues to sing songs of faith that either quote scripture or reflect a scriptural truth.  These lyrics will remain with the children and shape their theology and deepen their faith as they enter the teenage years and beyond.

In addition to developing worship leaders and a strong faith, the choir works hard to meet certain musical goals.  At this age, the children continue to develop their singing voices through basic vocal training.  They also build their note reading and rhythm skills through the reading of choral music, hymn tunes and instrumental melodies.  Further instruction is given in the playing of Orff instruments, handchimes, handbells and a variety of percussion instruments.

The choir continues to prepare the children for a life of service in the church.  A strong commitment to the Chapel Club program and worship is stressed.  Most importantly, the children are embraced by a loving and caring staff and environment that allows the children to witness God’s love in action and grow as individuals.
